"Nurses are the only discipline at the bedside 24/7. Nursing is also considered the most trusted profession by the community. As leaders in clinical care, they require the knowledge, competencies and tools to survive in this transitional world of healthcare. As a result, ONA has the responsibility to support nursing advocacy through legislation and education which defends nursing efficacy and rights, promotes empowerment and autonomy in practice and embraces diversity.”

"ONA is a vital professional association that represents our community of registered nurses. I believe our values of ethical practice and professional integrity, cultural diversity, health parity, professional competence, parity for access to health services and quality and safe patient care are essential to Oklahoma residents. These values are tested daily in practice as we maintain and improve human dignity and deliver ethical, competent care. We are accountable to our patients and employers and must communicate clearly with them to show that we have developed our skills to deliver competent safe nursing care in all practice settings."

Vice President
Connie Davis, RN, BSN

Connie Davis, RN is currently Vice President of Patient Care/CNO Tahlequah City Hospital.

"The profession of nursing continues to be possibly one of the most unappreciated professions in the nation. Health care is an ever changing world with new technology, new evidence based practices and sometimes impossible expectations that are placed on us by our patients, their families, physicians and ourselves. We must work collaboratively to improve the perception of nursing and agree on education requirements to meet the demand of nursing vacancies. We need to support each other in this very difficult environment that we all so love. We must set a new standard in nursing and become role models that will attract new graduates into this very challenging but also most rewarding career."

Education Director 2008 - 2010
Marsha Green, RN BS MS

Marsha Green, RN, MS is serving as the Education and Nurse Consultant for McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma and as a Faith Community Nurse for McAlester’s First Presbyterian Church. Marsha has served as an ANA delegate and is an active member of the ONA convention committee and Oklahoma League for Nursing.

"I consider it an honor and a privilege to have this opportunity to represent the Oklahoma Nurses. The nursing profession and healthcare faces many complex issues. Leading these issues are the nursing shortage, nursing faculty shortage, access to health care, workplace safety, adequate staffing, and appropriate legislation. The future of nursing is the responsibility of all. One of nursing’s greatest strengths is diversity, both culturally and with our opinions. We need to utilize that diversity to make a strong and effective voice for nursing. It is time to move forward and quit circling around old issues. ONA provides a source for our voice to be heard in politics, legislation, education and workplace safety."

Teri Round, , RN

Teri Round, RN, MS is the Director of Nursing at Stillwater Medical Center

“My passion for nursing currently centers on retention of our most valuable resource, the nurse. Through preceptorship and mentorship, I work on these issues personally and have watched ONA face the issue head on. Making sure employers have the things needed for the nurses to function optimally; such as good staffing ratios, equipment and help from computerization are continual challenges. Increasing our recruitment of new individuals to our profession and gaining consensus on nursing entry levels and other challenges are yet to be resolved.”
